Chua Chups

Buoyed by the success of the Accutronics reverb I decided to revisit one of my earliest DIY experiments.  This is a Chua oscillator that I started playing with back in April 1999. I rebuilt the original circuit substituting a TL072 for the two LM741s, then added some voltage control elements from a second version I started in 2000/2001. I'm quite happy with this version, so it's finally going to get a panel...

Of Mixers & Men

I finally plucked up the courage to make the panel for the expanded MFOS Stereo Mixer. Now All I need to do is wire it up and figure out the modifications I started. This is a 6U (x5U) beast, it's going to take forever...

Incidentally, I'm pretty sure that in terms of modules I've ever owned, this is module 200

Here's another thing I've had hanging around unfinished for far too many years, the Highly Liquid MD24 - a MIDI to gate converter. I finally wired this up last week and used a 3mm plywood offcut for the panel. The case has also been hanging around for a while, it's an ex BBC desktop case probably used to house a reverb remote - more recently it housed my Bat Detector...

It Lives...

...The E&MM Harmonic Generator reproduced by circuitbenders. The circuit was originally published in Electronics & Music Maker magazine back in 1981 and I have a vague recollection of lusting after one of these back in the day. Rather than using it for its intended purpose, this is a great module for mangling drums and other complex signals.

...Panel graphics using Letraset. I then use three coats of automotive lacquer for a really durable finish. I should hopefully have this Serge Resonant EQ wired up in the next couple of days

The Barton BMC028 Live Rhythm Quantizer. I've no idea how it works, but I currently have it on soak test with just a static VCO output driving an incredibly funky shaker groove synced to my master clock. Maybe I'll read the build notes again this evening...

Voltage to Rhythm Converter

I've been edging forward with this one for a couple of years now, the Barton BMC006 Voltage to Rhythm Converter. I finished the board a couple of months ago, drilled the panel out yesterday and applied three coats of lacquer this afternoon. I've wired the ground and +5V busses, now comes the joy of wiring up twenty jacks, twelve switches, eight LEDs and three pots. Is that the last of the complicated builds ?
