4520 Clock Divider
Apart from a mult, this was probably my first effort at Synth DIY, it's a quick and dirty clock divider. No buffering, no smoothing caps, just a voltage regulator and a 4520 counter

Passive Mixer
A simple passive mixer with a switched output matrix

Quad Super Warp Generator
Based on the Razmasynth Super Warp Generator, this passive noise generator has four channels and switched LEDs
Schematic
Panel
Orgo
An expanded version of the simple OR logic circuit with dual outputs
Schematic
Panel
White Noise Generator
A very simple white noise generator with a nice bright output (schematic corrected 17.03.18)
Schematic
Panel
40106 Hex VCO
Two versions of the simple, but somewhat unpredicable 40106 based VCO
Schematic A (Single Rail Supply)
Schematic B (Dual Rail Supply)

Passive Diode Circuits I
A nice collection of passive diode based circuits, super simple for a beginner
Schematic
Panel
Quad Buffer/Relay Driver
Another early DIY effort. This is a panel of voltage followers that can also drive a set of relays for remote footswitch activation
Schematic
Panel
Passive Diode Circuits II
Another collection of passive diode based circuits
Schematic
Panel
Passive VCA/LPG
A variation on the classic vactrol based circuit using switched capacitors to alter the filter response
Schematic
Panel
Lag/Inverter
Another early one. Two simple circuits without buffering or smoothing caps. I still use this quite a lot...
Schematic
Panel
Feedback Loop
A basic feedback loop with A/B effect switching
Schematic
Panel
Footswitch/Attenuator
Two attenuators and two footswitch interfaces
Schematic
Panel
Master Reset
A little utility panel to reset multiple sequencers, clock dividers etc either manually or from an external gate
Schematic
Panel
DR3 Reverb
Based on the application notes of the Accutronics DR3 stereo reverb brick but using single rather than dual pots to exploit the module's internal routing.
Schematic
Panel
Chua/Chaos Oscillator
Another very old experiment that went through several incarnations. This version is pleasingly idiosyncratic
Schematic
Panel
Tudor3 Phase Shifter
Based on the deceptively simple David Tudor box, but with a twist
Schematic
Panel
JLH Joystick Controller
Dedicated to J Larry Hendry aka Stooge Larry who gave me this circuit back in the day...
Schematic
Schematic B for your 40106 Hex VCO shows the diodes short-circuited by a wire.
ReplyDeleteYes, I never figured that out. See the note at the bottom of the PDF - with the diode in place as per the original (Version A) schematic, the CV input stopped responding. By bridging the diode it works again, but I've no idea why
ReplyDeleteThank you for these very useful circuits.
ReplyDeleteYes excellent collection of circuits - thank you so much
